Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Europe to face new challenge in Middle-East
Soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo, as we now know it, is leaving Europe to face a new challenge in the Middle-East.
In the next few years we may no longer have the chance to watch him display his brilliant skills in the battlefield of the biggest soccer stadiums in Europe as we had in over two decades.
Less than a month after Portugal's early exit from the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Ronaldo signed with Saudi Arabia's famous football club Al-Nassr, a move that he said is a new challenge he has to face.
At the press conference where he officially announced this twist of event leaving the soccer world in shock, Ronald said his children and the family as a whole is at his back.
By saying that, Ronaldo affirms his strong faith in the importance of family and his children to his career and the profoundness of his love of the game.
He smiled to acknowledge their presence and shaking his head as he said that, a picture of seriousness in his thought.
That gesture strikes me the most. I like it so much. I had been a Cristiano Ronaldo observer/follower.
According to Forbes, the Portuguese football star has a net worth of $490 million in 2022.
Juventus sold him back to Manchester United in August 2021 for a whopping $23.6 million.
Ronaldo is just one of the world's four greatest athletes who played the sport that include Lionel Messi Diego Maradona both of Argentina and the late Pele of Brazil.
Pele has just died last week at age 82.
But even before he starts his odyssey in Arabian soil, Ronaldo, 37, maybe dealing the biggest challenge of this new chapter of his career, not from the football field but against religious rules or customs.
Cristiano Ronaldo and wife Georgina Rodriguez are not married, which if they will live together there in the same house they will break the law. This will certainly make a big impact in the Moslem world. It will create a strong indignation among the Arab counties and the Saudi Royal family will be under pressure.
Legal opinions in news reports were quoted as saying that if that happens Saudi authorities may just execute minimum tolerance especially so that they are foreign nationals.
Other news reports also assumed that authorities will not execute punishment for the couple.
Let us wait what remedies they will make about this.
Ronaldo's son Ronaldo Jr is 11 years old and has been playing the game also in school competitions.
He has two children with the model Georgina, whom he met when he still with Spain's Real Madrid while she worked as sales assistant at Gucci. They have twins but one of them died at birth.
He has two other daughters who are according to reports from surrogate mothers from the US.
